The success of a sowing campaign depends primarily on the quality of seeds and soil, and the rest is agricultural technology and weather conditions outside.

You can make the soil yourself or buy it in a store. But there are still a few things that should not be ignored.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" - a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told what requirements are imposed on the soil for sowing cucumbers and squash seedlings.

Ideal soil

If the soil is poor, even the highest quality seeds will not help.

1. Therefore, to create optimal conditions, you need to focus on compositions containing peat and humus.

The best option for the above vegetables, containing the necessary set of nutrients.

2. The soil should be light, loose, and permeable to air.

This is an important condition not only for zucchini and cucumbers, but for all young plants in general.

3. The next important condition concerns drainage.

High humidity and stagnant moisture will lead to the development of fungus and rot.

Therefore, in some cases, gardeners add perlite or vermiculite.

4. The next point concerns not so much the composition of the soil, but its condition.

Cucumber and squash seeds are sown in thoroughly warmed soil.

The soil temperature should be 20 degrees Celsius, at least not lower.

5. As for fertilizers and dressings, it is recommended to use mixtures intended for specific vegetable crops that stimulate growth and development.

These simple rules will help you thoroughly prepare for sowing, grow healthy seedlings and harvest a rich vegetable crop.
