Before sowing seeds for seedlings, they need to be processed, and some need to be germinated. Sometimes these procedures are combined by preparing solutions from industrial preparations.
But more often, summer residents use improvised means for these needs, for example, hydrogen peroxide.
Is it possible to use hydrogen peroxide to treat seeds? As is known, this product is used to treat wounds.
Soaking in hydrogen peroxide
This is a really effective way to treat seeds before sowing.
This way, it is possible to destroy pathogens of known diseases that threaten the crop even at the sowing stage.
In addition, peroxide softens the dense seed coat, which promotes the rapid emergence of sprouts and shoots.
How to proceed
1. But in order not to harm the seeds of future seedlings, you need to use peroxide wisely.
For soaking, use a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution.
The seeds are placed on a cotton pad, which is placed in a saucer or other suitable container, into which the product is then poured.
To disinfect, it is enough to keep the seeds in peroxide for 15-20 minutes.
2. If you want to disinfect the seeds and germinate them, then you need to add 3 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide to a glass of water, and place the seeds in the solution for 12 hours.
Experienced gardeners claim that this is the simplest and most effective method, allowing you to get quick shoots and healthy seedlings, which will then produce a rich harvest of vegetables.
