Summer residents are warned against making mistakes when preparing organic matter for processing into compost.
It is not recommended to add large branches and other poorly decomposing waste to pits and piles, as this will delay the preparation of the fertilizer.
But according to the observations of experienced gardeners, this process can be accelerated with the help of a simple mixture.
Moreover, this composition will help to process even branches and more complex components, such as bones.
What to add to compost
It is believed that plant remains will rot much faster if a mixture of starch and urea is added to the pit or pile.
Gardeners claim that urea helps maintain the right temperature for compost processing.
It also prevents the spread of pathogenic bacteria in the fertilizer.
Starch is absorbed in the soil and, together with urea, accelerates the composting process.
How to proceed
The ingredients are mixed in a 1:1 ratio.
The finished mixture is added to the pit or compost heap at intervals of once every two weeks in the amount of 3 tbsp.
Then the compost pit or pile needs to be watered.
