Hydrangea, belonging to the Runaway Bride variety, has won the hearts of flower growers with its striking beauty and unique characteristics.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told what kind of care a plant needs so that it pleases its owner with lush flowering and a healthy appearance.

Growing conditions

The Runaway Bride does best in well-lit areas, although it does require some shade during the hottest hours of the day.

When planting, avoid areas with frequent strong winds or drafts, as these may have a negative effect on the plant.

Soil

Hydrangeas require fertile, loose soil with good drainage and a neutral or slightly acidic pH.

Watering

Representatives of this variety need to be watered regularly, especially if it is hot outside. The soil should be moist, but without stagnant water.

As a rule, weekly watering is sufficient, but in dry weather the frequency should be increased.

If you want to retain moisture in the soil longer, mulch the area around the bush.

Top dressing

Fertilizers should be applied several times per season – three or four times from spring to late summer. Fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are suitable. If you don’t want to bother with finding suitable ones, use specialized mixtures for hydrangeas.
