Strawberries tolerate cold well, but it is important to prepare the plant for the winter season. The harvest depends on this, first of all, and not the condition of the seedlings in the spring.
That is why most people prefer to plant strawberries in the spring – during the season they get stronger and overwinter without any shocks.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, reminded summer residents of the most important thing.
Is it possible to plant strawberries in autumn

How to choose a place
It is important to consider what plants grew here before the strawberries and what you will plant nearby in the new season.
The best predecessors are onions, garlic, beets, legumes, and, of green manure, mustard and lupine.
It is not recommended to plant strawberries after cucumbers, cabbage, and nightshades.
You can plant strawberries next to parsley and marigolds.
Select soil
The best soil is loam or sandy loam. The soil acidity is from 5.0 to 6.5 pH. Avoid heavy soil, as well as excessively wet soil.
But another important point is the illumination of the bed. The sun should shine over it all day.
