Usually, summer residents plant winter garlic at the end of September or the beginning of October.
However, it is necessary to prepare a place for the above-mentioned garden crop in August.
It is necessary to carry out a procedure such as digging up the soil.
In addition, one important fertilizer consisting of four components must be added to the soil.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh addressed summer residents with such a reminder.
How to prepare a place for winter garlic
At the end of summer, in the place where you plan to plant garlic in 1-1.5 months, you need to dig up the soil.
It is advisable to add rotted manure with the following additives when digging:
- potassium sulfate;
- superphosphate;
- chalk: it will act as a deoxidizer.
For 10 kilos of manure, there should be one tablespoon of each of the three above-mentioned agents.
By cultivating the soil in a timely manner and restoring its fertility, the gardener will maximize the chances of getting a large and high-quality garlic harvest next year.
