The end of the calendar spring and the beginning of summer is the period for planting tomato seedlings in open ground.

Sometimes tomato plants produce better fruit outdoors than in a greenhouse.

However, it is important to plant the seedlings correctly. During this procedure, summer residents often make mistakes, due to which the harvest is not very rich.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed common mistakes that should definitely not be repeated.

Unprepared soil

Don't forget to "fill" the holes in advance.

It is advisable to use organic fertilizers. The ideal option is compost.

Planting too densely

When planting seedlings outdoors, some gardeners forget to keep the distance between plantings.

And in vain, because this is a very important point: excessive density can cause problems with the growth and development of the plant. In addition, the bushes will be poorly ventilated, receive little sunlight and nutrients.

If we are talking about tall tomatoes, then the distance between rows should be up to a meter, and between bushes - 70 centimeters.

For medium-sized tomatoes, these figures are 80 and 50 centimeters, respectively, and for low-growing tomatoes - 50 and 30 centimeters.

Refusal to install supports

Be sure to use stakes. Without these supports, the plant will be vulnerable to pests, diseases and adverse weather conditions.

Common mistakes when growing carrots were listed earlier.
