In mid-spring, many gardeners start sowing radishes.
Of course, every summer resident who takes up this work wants to get a rich and high-quality harvest of the popular crop.
But the desired result is not always achieved.
Sometimes this is explained by unfavorable weather. But more often the reason for the drop in radish yield is mistakes made by the gardener.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed common mistakes that should not be repeated.
Late planting
Many varieties of radish do not respond well to high temperatures.
If you plant a plant too late (when the thermometer has already exceeded +20 degrees), you may lose the harvest.
Planting in a sunny place
Radish is one of the shade-loving crops.
It is advisable to plant the plant in an area that is rarely exposed to direct sunlight.
Poor watering
The chances of getting a quality radish harvest are reduced if the crop is grown in conditions of insufficient moisture.
The soil should not be dry. Otherwise, the vegetable will be tasteless and too hard.
Late application of manure to the soil
Planting radishes should not be done immediately after adding organic matter.
Manure should be used at least 30 days before sowing.
Otherwise, the vegetables will not grow to the highest quality.
Earlier, summer residents were told what can be planted in the same bed with garlic.
