What to do in spring with seedlings planted in autumn: don't forget, otherwise they will die

Inexperienced gardeners often encounter a situation in which events unfold as follows: a seedling planted in the fall wakes up with the onset of spring, its buds swell, then the leaves begin to unfold, and suddenly the plant dries up.

The answer to the question of why this happened was found by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

First, let's remember what kind of weather we usually have in spring.

As a rule, sunny days with positive temperatures are replaced by frosts and snowfalls, and this “whirlwind” lasts for quite a long time.

What does a summer resident need to do? The most important thing is to clear the tree trunks from snow. This applies not only to young seedlings, but also to adult trees.

Extremely high temperatures can cause the seedling to awaken and grow. But if the ground is covered with snow, it will not have time to thaw and the roots will not be able to get moisture.

The leaves will begin to draw moisture from the trunk, and the tree will become dehydrated, which will lead to its death.

After cleaning the tree trunk circle, if the temperature is above zero, add some snow to the circle so that it melts and moisture reaches the tree roots.

And finally, let us remind you of one more "little thing": during this period, it is also important to protect the seedlings from direct sunlight. To do this, you can wrap the tree trunk with a thin white non-woven material.

Earlier we told you what to sow for seedlings in April.
