The first of the bright flowers to bloom in garden beds are bulbous flowers. Depending on the air temperature and weather, the first buds may appear in April.

Florists were reminded about how to care for daffodils and tulips and what mistake should not be repeated.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told when it is possible to prune bulbous plants.

In spring, gardeners and vegetable growers first of all clean up their plots and do sanitary pruning.

But if we are talking about bulbous plants, then you need to forget about pruning for the entire spring.

Do I need to trim?

The temptation arises among beginners who cannot calmly look at faded daffodils, hyacinths or tulips.

Wanting to tidy up a flowerbed, they sometimes take up garden shears. But it will be better if the stems or leaves die off naturally.

It is recommended to prune no earlier than six weeks after flowering has ended.

This can be done after the leaves have completely dried out.

Until this time, you need to water the bulbs, no matter how wretched they may seem.

Also, there is no need to tie, tie up or perform any other manipulations with plants, which may worsen photosynthesis.

Previously we talked about how to propagate black and red currant bushes.
