The quality of seedlings depends not only on the phases of the moon during sowing. Every detail is important here - soil, seeds, seedling container and care.

All the more attention should be paid to sowing if we are talking about crops such as nightshade. Of the family, bell pepper stands out in particular.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how and when to sow peppers for seedlings.

When to sow peppers

The starting point should be the date of transplanting mature seedlings into the beds or greenhouse.

In January, the 31st is considered a good day for sowing.

In February, you can sow peppers on the 11th, 12th, and from the 15th to the 21st.

In March from the 13th to the 16th, 18th to the 19th and 22nd to the 24th.

How to prepare seeds

1. The seeds are soaked in a weak solution of potassium permanganate (1 liter of water and 1 gram of the product).

2. It wouldn’t hurt to treat with a growth stimulator.

3. But the main thing is germination (the seeds are kept in a damp cloth in a warm place for 4-5 days).

4. The soil should be loose and slightly acidic. This can be a store-bought product or a mixture of peat and humus (1:1) or a mixture of humus and turf soil (2:1).

5. Containers are selected for individual planting (6 cm wide and 10-15 cm deep). Do not forget about drainage holes.

6. Sow 2-3 seeds in one container, water. Then cover with film and put in a warm place until the first shoots appear.

Then the film needs to be removed and the humidity level monitored.

7. Within a week after the emergence of shoots, the seedlings need to be illuminated, and they need to be planted after the air temperature warms up to +15.

Previously we talked about how to grow strong seedlings .
