It may come as a surprise, but quite a few shrubs actually like acidic soil, meaning you won't have to rack your brains trying to create a luxurious garden in an acidic area.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the three most accessible, yet attractive options.

Rhododendron

This plant can safely be called the "king" of acidic soils in the garden. There are many species and varieties of rhododendron, and the flowering of each of them can be described as stunning.

Gardeners from the middle zone should remember that different species and varieties have different winter hardiness, so when buying, you need to pay attention to the characteristics, and, most likely, you will have to cover the bush for the winter - this is especially true for young and evergreen plants.

Hydrangea

In our gardens, paniculate and tree hydrangeas with white, pink, greenish and cream flowers, which can change shade from light to more saturated, have taken root well.

It is believed that the brightness of the color is affected by the acidity of the soil, but only the large-leaved hydrangea, which is rarely grown in our country due to its low winter hardiness, can boast of such a quality.

Viburnum vulgare

This hardy shrub is completely unconcerned about soil acidity, unless it is extreme, of course.

The species viburnum has rather modest flowers, but nevertheless it can boast a pleasant appearance due to the decorativeness of its bright leaves and fruits.

In addition, you can always choose cultivated varieties of viburnum, for example, roseum or buldenezh, which bloom no less beautifully than hydrangea.

Earlier, the expert told how to grow strong and lush seedlings without a drop of chemicals.
