Not every gardener has the patience to grow petunia seedlings. The reason is not so much the capricious nature of the plant, but the small seeds.
Pelleted seeds come to the rescue - they are larger and easier to sow. But they are more expensive. Therefore, most gardeners do it the old-fashioned way.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to sow small petunia seeds without any hassle.
How to sow petunia seeds
1. First, make sure you have purchased everything you need: soil, a container with a lid, or cling film to create a greenhouse.
2. After pouring the soil into the container, do not forget to compact it.
3. Then mark the rows and make furrows in the prepared soil. There should be at least 2-3 cm between the rows.
4. Pour hot water into the furrows and scatter the seeds in them.
5. To avoid suffering, fold a sheet of paper in half, sprinkle seeds on the fold and sow, gently shaking the sheet.
If the soil seems insufficiently moistened, water it with a spray bottle, cover the container with a lid or film and move the greenhouse to a warm and light place.
Use a grow light if necessary.
Ventilate the seedlings periodically.
