Why Houseplants Should Not Be Watered on a Schedule: Many Gardeners Make This Mistake

You watered the flower regularly, but it died? You probably made a mistake when carrying out this care procedure.

Thus, according to the expert of the online publication “BelNovosti”, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , moistening the soil in a pot according to a schedule is a gross violation, and here’s why.

It turns out that the frequency of watering changes depending on the time of year.

In the summer months, you should empty the watering can more often, in the fall – less often, and in the winter, after the start of the heating season, the number of waterings should be increased again.

But this is not the only factor that influences the frequency of watering indoor plants - the date of the next procedure directly depends on how abundant the previous watering was.

Instead of "quenching the thirst" of potted plants on a strict schedule, such as once a week, water the plants as needed.

You will know that the right time has come when the top layer of soil dries out or when the pot becomes light enough.

Another important point: do not use cold tap water for this “operation”. The contents of the watering can should be at room temperature, otherwise you will subject the plants to serious stress.

Earlier, BelNovosti reported on the peculiarities of caring for new indoor plants.
