Certain mistakes made when applying fertilizer to fruit trees can seriously harm the plants.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, spoke about how not to do it.
Do not apply slaked lime together with phosphorus fertilizers.
Since lime prevents plants from absorbing phosphorus, it makes sense to replace it with dolomite flour.
Do not mix urea
Bad "companions" for urea are the following: sodium, potassium, calcium and ammonium nitrate, manure, potassium chloride, potassium sulfate, superphosphate, potassium carbonate and liquid fertilizers. Do not allow any of the named substances to enter into tandem with urea.
Do not spray during the day.
And even more so, you should not do foliar feeding in hot weather, since the suitable temperature for this method of fertilization does not exceed 28 degrees. In addition, foliar feeding of trees is also prohibited in strong winds.
Do not apply fertilizer to dry soil.
If the plantings are not watered beforehand, the nutrient compositions may cause root system burns.
