You can plant lilacs in your garden plot, but never near the beds.

Why you can’t plant this plant next to a vegetable garden is explained by the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Where you can't plant lilacs

Lilacs greatly deplete the soil and take a lot of moisture from it, so it is definitely not worth planting them near vegetable beds.

Tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes and grapes do not grow well near lilacs. In addition, lilacs attract insect pests with their shadow.

It is also not recommended to plant lilacs directly next to the house, as their roots can damage the foundation.

The distance from the house and other buildings should be two to three meters. It is also advisable to plant lilacs away from trees, as they will shade it.
