Many summer residents like to buy new bushes and trees for their plots so that the harvest is richer and more varied.
Therefore, buying new seedlings is a common thing.
However, sometimes new plants do not want to take root. The expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh connects this with three common reasons.
What do they consist of?
You bought a low-quality plant
Many are tempted to buy a seedling from someone, since they may look good and cost much less than the usual ones. But this is a big mistake.
In such places you can buy low-quality seedlings that are not even adapted to grow in your climate zone. Therefore, to protect yourself from disappointment, choose plants from trusted nurseries.
You have damaged the root system.
Many people carefully examine the root system and try to put it in order. However, damaged roots must be removed very carefully. If you overdo it, you can simply destroy the plant.
Remember that only roots with obvious damage should be trimmed.
Moisture
The seedlings that you try to plant in wet soil will feel bad. The immediate proximity of groundwater is the main enemy of plants.
Soil quality
If your soil is too dense, try to dig a planting hole that is at least one hundred centimeters deep. If the soil is normal, the depth can be reduced to 75 centimeters.
After this, we lay out at least seven centimeters of drainage.
Then we lay out the main layer of soil and plant the plant. It is important to fill the planting hole with a mixture of black soil, sand and organic components (proportions 50%/25%/25%, respectively). Do not forget to add complex fertilizers.
If you follow these rules, the plants will take root.
