White cabbage can be stored for quite a long time if you create the appropriate conditions for it.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, tells us how to properly store cabbage.
How to store cabbage
Cabbage is best stored at a temperature of about 5 degrees Celsius.
The ideal place for storage is a cool cellar. The humidity level should be 85-90%.
If the humidity is too low, you can put a bucket of water in the cellar; if it is too high, put a bucket of ash.
It is important that the heads of cabbage are undamaged. Before storing, remove the top leaves and wrap each head of cabbage in newspaper, then wrap it in cling film or wrap it in a plastic bag. This will significantly extend the shelf life of the cabbage.
