Potatoes, garlic and onions are perhaps the main crops that can be found in every plot.

However, not all summer residents know that after their harvesting, the land often remains empty, which is what the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh is quick to remind us of.

In this case, green manure will come to the rescue, which will not only replenish the supply of nutrients in the soil, but will also cope with the spores of fungal diseases that often remain in the beds.

Please note: sowing just one crop will not be enough. It is better if you listen to the advice in this article and scatter a mixture of two green manures on the beds.

Let's not beat around the bush - their names are phacelia and mustard.

The first plant, phacelia, boasts powerful phytosanitary properties, thanks to which it easily suppresses pathogens of numerous diseases, preventing them from spreading further.

The mustard root system, in turn, is capable of releasing phytoncides – substances that suppress the growth and development of pathogenic fungi in the soil.

With the onset of frost, mustard and phacelia will die, having perfectly completed the task assigned to them - cleansing the soil of harmful bacteria, and thereby leaving useful biomass, which is necessary for garlic, onions and potatoes.
