If you do not pay due attention to your raspberry bushes after harvesting, there is a high probability that the yield will drop next season and the fruits will become smaller.
Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about important points for caring for the crop in July.
First of all, it is worth remembering that the rules for caring for summer and remontant raspberries will be different.
The easiest way to determine what variety the plants in your area belong to is to take into account the time when ripe berries appear.
If this happens in July, then the raspberry is a classic variety. The same one, the fruits of which ripen at the end of August, is remontant.
We will talk about ordinary, non-remontant raspberries.
After fruiting, it needs additional feeding to replenish the spent supply of nutrients.
In addition, remove branches that have finished fruiting. Young shoots should also be thinned out to avoid thickening.
Don't forget to treat the raspberry patch against diseases and pests, and also moisten the soil as needed. A couple more necessary procedures are loosening and weeding.
