The shoots need to be removed, but it is also important to know why the tree produces so much of them.

The sprouts that emerge from the roots of a tree take a lot of resources from it. This affects the quality of the harvest.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained in which cases the growth should be considered an alarm signal.

Often, a lot of shoots appear after improper pruning of the tree. The plant redistributes resources that go to the roots.

If pruning was not carried out, then there is a reason to sound the alarm. When the main trunk dies, abundant growth of shoots begins. In this case, the tree should be inspected for wounds, sunburn, fungi.

Fighting the shoots with chemicals is not the best option. There is a risk of ruining the tree.

It would be better to use a different tactic.

1. Dig up the soil to the root and find the area from which the shoot is growing.

2. The shoots need to be cut off at the very base.

3. Regular pruning, mowing or covering with soil will not help. The problem will be solved for a short period of time, and then the shoots will start growing with renewed vigor.
