Many gardeners install a box on their country plot. Or dig a hole.
This is necessary for collecting organic waste. Over time, the mass turns into excellent fertilizer.
However, not all leftovers can be made part of the compost.
First of all, we are talking about possible sources of diseases and dangerous microorganisms. These are diseased plants and waste products of domestic pets.
Most gardeners know about the dangers of this organic matter.
However, there are other wastes that cannot be sent to the compost pit, but many gardeners do it anyway, resulting in spoilage of the fertilizer.
Dairy products
Food waste that contains milk (for example, the drink itself, sour cream, cheese) should never end up in the compost bin.
The fact is that such a component will attract dangerous pests.
Fish and meat
Some summer residents are sure that fish and meat scraps are ideal “organic matter” for a compost heap.
Still, these products should go in the trash, not the compost bin.
The explanation for this recommendation is very simple: the presence of meat and fish is almost a 100% guarantee of the appearance of rodents and dangerous insects.
Glossy paper
Newsprint can go in the compost heap. Magazine paper cannot.
The fact is that this material contains compounds that are dangerous to other “organic matter”.
