Many gardeners mistakenly take this action as a rule, and therefore unknowingly harm their plantings.
The effort, time, and possibly money spent will not lead to the desired result if this nuance is not taken into account.
Important procedure
Mulching is one of the main tasks in the garden and vegetable garden. This procedure is useful for plants for a number of reasons.
But there are periods when mulching does not bring any benefit and can cause harm. This is especially true for strawberries.
Error in care
Incorrectly chosen time for covering the strawberry plant can negatively affect the development of berry bushes.
It is not recommended to mulch strawberries during flowering. There are at least two reasons why it is better not to cover the bushes during this period.
Firstly, the soil will warm up worse, and the roots will not feel very comfortable in damp and cold soil. Secondly, all the fertilizers will remain on the surface, only a small part will reach the underground part of the plant.
Therefore, experienced gardeners recommend mulching strawberries when the ovaries appear.
