If you decide to seriously take up growing raspberries on your plot, you will have to choose the right place for their placement, prepare the soil, provide sufficient care and protect from pests.
But first things first.
Raspberries prefer a well-lit area – the sun should be there for at least 6 hours a day. In addition, the soil in the area allocated for raspberries should have neutral acidity and be well-drained.
Before you start planting raspberry bushes, carefully clear the area of weeds and stones, then fertilize the beds with compost or humus.
Now dig a hole about 40 cm deep and 50 cm in diameter.
Place the roots of the raspberry bush in the resulting hole, then fill it with soil up to the ground surface level.
All that remains is to compact the soil around the bush, and then water the seedling and you can wash your hands in the literal and figurative sense of the word.
In order for the raspberry to take root in a new place, do not forget to water it, weed it and loosen it. Another operation that cannot be ignored is pruning the shoots. It is necessary to stimulate the growth of new branches.
