First of all, you can use ash that remains from natural material: firewood, branches, dry grass, straw, nut shells, etc.
Pieces of chipboard, plastic, boards with paint or varnish residues should not be added to the fire. Ash from household waste is also not suitable for plants.
The place where the fire is made should also be clean. If household waste was burned here before, the old ash should be cleaned out first.
In addition, a smoldering fire should not be extinguished with water, otherwise useful substances will go into the ground along with it. The ash will turn into useless powder. For example, ash from a sauna stove is ideal if ordinary firewood is used for it. The type of wood does not matter.
