Any gardener knows that the basis for a good harvest is the fertility of the soil.
But that's not all. If we are talking about cherries, it is worth noting that in this case the acidity of the soil and the presence of calcium in it are of great importance for a bountiful harvest.
If the soil is acidic, the tree will not be able to absorb enough calcium, which is the basis of the seed of each berry.
Is it worth continuing to explain why the harvest in such a situation will be meager?
To avoid such trouble, deoxidize the soil once every two years. To do this, you will need to add 6-7 glasses of dolomite flour under each adult tree.
First, loosen the soil to a depth of about 5-7 cm, and then simply scatter the dolomite.
It won’t hurt to feed the cherry tree with ash throughout the season – every summer month, add 3 cups of wood burning residue under the cherry tree.
With the onset of autumn, do not forget to provide the tree with calcium. Ground eggshells are suitable for this - 7-10 tablespoons per cherry.
In addition, gardeners advise spraying with slaked lime during the ripening period of berries. To prepare the solution, you will need to dilute 5 tablespoons in 10 liters of water.
