Pricking out is usually understood as cutting off the central root.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said that this procedure is performed in order to help the branching of the lateral roots of the plant.

Thanks to the developed root system, seedlings will be able to receive more nutrition, and accordingly, the seedlings will become stronger.

However, it is worth remembering that for some plants, picking is contraindicated, which does not mean that they cannot be transplanted from a common box - in this case, it is worth using a method such as transshipment.

Picking or replanting seedlings is very important, since the roots of the seedlings will inevitably become intertwined in one container.

This means that when transplanting to a permanent “place of residence” – into holes – you will have to tear apart the roots, otherwise the seedlings simply cannot be separated from each other.

Of course, this step can hardly be called beneficial for plants - adaptation of crops will take more time, which is why you will see the first fruits 1-2 weeks later.

Please note: if we are talking about flower seedlings that are planned to be planted in groups in the future to create lush bushes, you can do without replanting.
