Proper watering is the key to the grapes’ ability to resist diseases, pests and even frost.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about how to properly moisten the soil in a vineyard with the arrival of spring.

In total, the crop needs to be watered three times during the spring months.

The first time of abundant watering occurs at the beginning of the growing season, that is, the period of time when you have removed the covering material, and the buds on the vines have not yet swollen.

If dry weather sets in, the next suitable time for watering is when the first buds appear and the vines grow.

It should be taken into account that the future fate of the plant depends on the temperature of the water you use for watering.

So, if the liquid is cold, it will slow down the growth of the buds. Accordingly, warm water can activate the growth processes.

Knowledge of this feature will be useful for summer residents who grow grapes in regions where frosts are possible.

The third time you should take buckets of water a couple of weeks before the crop blooms.
