Growing a rich harvest will only be possible if you combine experience, agricultural practices and high-quality seeds.
The composition of the soil is also important. It is not only the amount of nutrients, but also the acidity, soil composition, structure. This is what prevents you from harvesting cucumbers.
Cucumbers will not produce a crop in dry and heavy soil, as well as in alkaline or acidic soil.
Balanced soil
It should be a breathable soil, absorbing moisture well, porous with a high humus content. Humidity should be no lower than 75% and no higher than 85%, warmed up to 14 degrees (ideally up to 18) heat at a depth of up to 20 cm.
Nutrients
If we talk about a balanced composition, then cucumber soil should contain phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium, and magnesium.
The soil should consist of peat, sand (for drainage), turf soil, humus, and also contain mullein.
Light soil
1. Not the worst example for growing cucumbers is sandy loam. The soil allows air and moisture to pass through well, is easy to process, and if you add organic matter, you can quickly get humus. The only downside is that sandy loam quickly cools and heats up, and does not retain moisture well.
To increase comfort, you need to add compost or rotted manure (10 kg per 1 sq. m).
2. Sandstones do not retain moisture and quickly lose nutrients. You can correct the situation by adding 1 bucket of peat with compost or 2 buckets of manure per 1 sq. m of soil once every 2-3 years.
Heavy soils
Alumina, heavy loam is not suitable for planting cucumbers. They do not allow air, moisture, heat, which is why the plants dry out.
To correct the situation, you need to add rotted sawdust (1 bucket per 1 sq. m), which is soaked for 72 hours in a urea solution (200 g per 10 l of water).
In autumn, rotted manure is added by digging to a depth of 10-12 cm at a rate of 10-15 kg per 1 sq. m. The next time manure is added after 3 years, in the amount of 5-6 kg per the same area.
You can sow phacelia, vetch or lupine.
