Failure to follow the rules for caring for eggplants can result in stunted growth and poor development of the plants.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the most common mistakes made by summer residents.

So, among the first things to mention is picking seedlings. Since eggplants do not tolerate transplanting well, choose cassettes or peat tablets for growing them.

Eggplants may turn yellow and wither due to a nutrient deficiency that occurs as a result of a lack of fertilizer.

In addition, not all gardeners know how to properly water eggplant beds. Due to the excessive amount of water, plants are at risk of fungal infection, and a lack of moisture causes yellowing.

It is worth saying a few words about loosening. The procedure should be carried out after watering, loosening the soil to a depth of 3-5 cm.

To avoid excessive growth of green mass, it is recommended to leave only 3-4 shoots, while the rest should be removed.

Finally, when growing eggplants, it is worth paying attention to the correct harvesting of the fruits. Avoid manual harvesting in favor of using scissors or pruning shears.
