Mayonnaise once became a sensation in the culinary world and many housewives still have no idea what they would use to dress their salads.

Scientists have come close to solving the mystery of mayonnaise and have revealed the terrible truth about what the sauce does to human health.

The research was initiated by staff from Tabriz Medical University.

The results of the large-scale work were summed up by the scientific publication Nutritional Neuroscience.

Mayonnaise and Parkinson

If you can't imagine your meals without this sauce, then you should know that it comes with a chronic and progressive neurological disease.

We are talking about Parkinson's disease.

The disease develops because the body stops producing dopamine.

The disease manifests itself in severe tremors (shaking of the limbs), rigidity (low flexibility) of muscles, problems with movement, balance, as well as the development of depression, sleep disturbances and brain function.

As scientists have found out, patients diagnosed with the disease consumed olive oil and mayonnaise in large quantities.

The more severe the disease, the more fats the patients consumed, the scientists found out.

Interestingly, at this stage of the study, scientists were unable to explain the link between the development of severe symptoms of Parkinson's disease and the consumption of mayonnaise, as well as olive oil and hydrogenated fats.
