It is especially often added to toast bread, which is used for sandwiches and canapés.

Low-quality fats cause general inflammation in the body and have a negative impact on metabolism, blood vessels and immunity.

Therefore, whole grain bread should be used to prepare snacks, Rusanova advised.

Whole grain bread is rich in fiber, which improves the health of the gut microbiome and protects against inflammation, she says.

In addition, regular white bread can be replaced with sourdough bread.
