How to overcome addiction to sweets

As Guzman explained, constantly high blood glucose levels reduce the cells' sensitivity to insulin and force the pancreas to produce more and more of it.

Over time, the pancreas can no longer cope, and type 2 diabetes develops.

Also, excessive consumption of sweets causes tooth decay and premature aging.

To overcome addiction to sweets, you must first of all recognize its existence.

Secondly, you need to track the amount of sweets you consume by keeping a diary.

Thirdly, do not buy or keep sweets at home to avoid temptation.

But you shouldn’t suddenly give up sweets, as this can lead to breakdowns.

Sweets can be part of a healthy diet, but only in moderation, the nutritionist noted.

According to her, dried fruits, homemade desserts, and dark chocolate will be healthy alternatives.
