At the New Year's table, you should give preference to light dishes, limit fatty foods and avoid soda.
This advice was given by the chief nutritionist of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region of the Russian Federation, Inna Pichugina.
The expert's recommendations are cited by Radio 1.
How to Avoid Health Problems at the New Year's Table
Firstly, you shouldn't prepare salads on an industrial scale. Opt for light vegetable salads, use vegetable oil, yogurt, sour cream as dressing.
It is better to bake meat and fish. Store-bought cakes and pastries should be replaced with low-calorie desserts or fruits, soda - with homemade fruit drink or regular water.
Unsweetened, non-carbonated drinks slow down the absorption of alcohol into the blood, while carbonated drinks speed it up, explained Pichugina.
You should also limit your consumption of smoked and pickled foods, as when combined with alcoholic beverages they can trigger a hypertensive crisis.
In addition, it is necessary to limit fatty foods. Eating fatty foods with alcohol is fraught with an attack of pancreatitis.
If there are no health restrictions, the nutritionist clarified, you can eat everything, the main thing is not to overeat. Small plates will help you follow this rule.
The smaller the plate, the less you will eat, the expert noted.
If you are going to visit someone/a restaurant, you should have a snack before leaving.
