Who else, if not doctors and nutritionists, can you trust with the most precious thing in a person’s life – your health.
Especially when it comes to choosing healthy foods, as well as seasonal fruits and vegetables.
The Zen channel News.ru reports on how to choose a healthy and tasty melon, citing nutritionist Elena Solomatina.
According to the expert, you need to pay attention to only two main indicators when choosing a quality fruit.
First of all, the aroma
If you don’t smell the melon aroma, then you can safely say that the harvest was collected ahead of schedule or the ripening was accelerated artificially.
The fruit will probably be tasteless.
Secondly, the presence of dents
Any dent indicates that the rotting process has already begun and may have affected the pulp.
Such a harvest poses a health risk and can cause poisoning.
In addition, the expert does not recommend eating melon to the rind. The same recommendation applies to watermelons.
The closer the pulp is to the rind, the more harmful substances it contains – nitrates.
