No matter how crazy pets may be at the sight of raw meat, scientists do not recommend feeding it to dogs and cats.
Despite the fact that raw meat was the main product in the diet of dogs and their distant ancestors, it is dangerous for the body. The trouble is that even a person can suffer.
The problem was worked on by employees of the University of Bristol in the UK.
According to the data obtained, feeding dogs raw meat is associated with the risk of introducing E. Coli bacteria into the body.
They are resistant to antibiotics and can also pose a threat to human health.
The study involved 600 adult dogs. Scientists examined fecal samples from the animals for the presence of E. Coli.
As a result, E. coli was found in 7.3% of dogs living in rural areas, as well as in 11.8% of urban animals.
A survey of pet owners found that feeding dogs raw meat increases the risk of bacterial infection.
It is worth noting that E. coli has been found in the intestines of dog owners.
It is noted that bacteria can be transmitted between people if hygiene rules are not followed.
In humans, bacteria cause diarrhea, poisoning, and infectious diseases of the urinary tract and bloodstream.
