Bedroom design often ends with choosing a mattress, bed linen and a set of curtains. But there are less obvious reasons that prevent you from getting a good night's sleep.
Here are the items you need to remove from your bedroom to avoid feeling groggy in the morning.
1. Consumer electronics
There should be no TV or computer in the bedroom. Experts even advise keeping mobile phones away from the bed. The reason is the additional load on the brain, which requires more time to relax and prepare for sleep.
2. Night lights
Night lights, as well as any electronics with light indicators, interfere with normal sleep. All this prevents the body from producing the sleep hormone melatonin.
3. Noise
Even the monotonous hum of a working computer or a ticking clock can distract you from sleep. They act in the same way as a dripping faucet in the night, which can be heard from anywhere in the apartment.
4. Synthetics
Experts do not recommend sleeping in silk and synthetic bedding sets. It is hot in summer and cold in winter.
5. Curtains
If you don't like curtains, you'll have to consider another way to block out street lighting. Thicker curtains help you sleep longer, which is good for your health.
6. Bright elements
There should be no brightly colored items in the bedroom. It is believed that shades of red have an irritating effect on the brain. Ideally, decorate the room in dark and cool colors.
7. Portraits and photos
All this only overloads the brain, which, from the abundance of objects, will focus on a photo or portrait of a person, and this does not contribute to healthy sleep.
8. Tight pajamas
Pajamas and other nightwear should be light and comfortable so as not to create discomfort.
