Often, red caviar is bought in bulk so that its taste can be enjoyed for a long time.
To keep this product fit for consumption, many people resort to a method such as freezing.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, shared her opinion on this matter.
How long can caviar be stored?
The best caviar is considered to be the one that does not contain preservatives.
Such a product can retain its qualities for no more than four months if the storage temperature is maintained in the range from -4 to -6 degrees.
If red caviar contains various substances that prevent the development of microorganisms, its shelf life can be extended to one year.
In this case, the same temperature conditions must be observed.
If we talk about ordinary household refrigerators, the temperature in them is usually around +4 degrees.
Under such conditions, red caviar can remain fit for consumption for only two weeks, provided that the jar has not been opened.
If the package has already been opened, then fresh and healthy caviar will retain its qualities for only four days.
However, it is not recommended to use tin containers to store the delicacy: transfer the caviar into a glass or plastic container.
Can you freeze caviar?
Many housewives resort to freezing caviar, believing that this method will allow it to remain fresh for a longer period.
Moreover, even some stores use this storage method.
However, this is highly discouraged, since when frozen, caviar loses its original taste and attractive appearance.
