How to Make Delicious Stewed Cabbage: You Don't Even Have to Add Meat

Few people like stewed cabbage, especially without meat, but chefs claim that it is really tasty.

Obviously, it’s not a matter of differences in tastes, but of recipes and technology.

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova - cook, fourth-category baker told how to deliciously stew cabbage.

You will need:

  • cabbage ½ head;
  • onion 1 pc;
  • carrot 1 pc;
  • vegetable oil 2 tbsp;
  • tomato paste 1 tbsp. l;
  • garlic 2-3 cloves;
  • sugar 1 tsp;
  • salt and pepper to taste;
  • bay leaf 1-2 pcs;
  • water 100-150 ml;
  • vinegar (9%) 1 tbsp.

How to cook

1. Cut the cabbage into thin strips and lightly knead with your hands.

2. Peel the onion, cut into small cubes, grate the carrots on a coarse grater, and press the garlic.

3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, fry the onion, after 3-5 minutes add the carrots.

4. After 3-4 minutes, add cabbage, stir and add spices according to the list and tomato paste.

5. Stir, pour in water and cook under the lid for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. 10 minutes before it’s ready, add garlic and vinegar.

It is best to serve this cabbage with fresh herbs. Enjoy your meal!
