It is believed that the classic recipe has only 7 ingredients.
But it only seems that way. Many people add apple to beets, carrots, potatoes, onions, eggs, herring and mayonnaise.
Sometimes, instead of an apple, green peas are used in a salad.
But it's not about the ingredients, but about the order in which the layers are placed.
In most cases, housewives use herring as the base for the salad, but chefs call this recipe modified.
If you change the order of the ingredients, you can achieve a completely different taste.
To prepare a juicy salad, follow this order (from bottom to top):
- beet;
- onions;
- herring;
- potato;
- egg;
- carrot;
- beet.
Of course, each layer is covered with a dressing of mayonnaise or another sauce.
According to chefs, the taste of herring can be emphasized by serving it with potatoes, and two layers of beets make the salad juicier and more colorful.
