Many salmon lovers prefer to remove the skin from the fish (for example, from a steak).

They do this because they consider the skin to be extremely oily and even dangerous to health.

But is this really so? This question was answered by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova .

According to her, you can cook and eat fish fillets with the top layer, but the scales, of course, need to be removed.

As for salmon skin, it does not pose any threat whatsoever and, moreover, can even be useful.

And in some Asian countries it is consumed as a separate dish – in the form of chips.

If you don't separate the fish from its skin, it will hold its shape better.

At the same time, such a piece contains much more omega-3 fatty acids, protein and vitamin D.

It is known that the listed elements are extremely beneficial for bones, joints and muscles.

They reduce the risk of chronic diseases and cognitive disorders.

They also support healthy bowel function and have a positive effect on the eyes and skin.

However, some categories of people are still advised to eat skinless fish, in particular, pregnant women and nursing mothers.
