Many people love cheese. Not only for breakfast – gourmets eat it with both cheeks throughout the day.
Cheese is eaten on its own, as part of various salads, and is also used as an addition to the main dish.
Most fans of the product agree that cheese is an excellent all-purpose snack.
Some housewives, trying to preserve cheese as long as possible, freeze it.
But can this be done? Answered by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova .
According to her, in principle, it is possible to freeze cheese, but only hard and semi-hard varieties (Parmesan, Beaufort, Gouda).
Before freezing, it is advisable to grate this cheese or cut it into slices or cubes.
But using frozen cheese as a snack or in a salad won’t work.
First of all, because the texture of such a product will be loose.
The second no less significant reason is that the richness of taste and smell will disappear.
However, in pizza or in a casserole, experts say, they will fully reveal themselves.
In general, experts recommend freezing cheese only when absolutely necessary.
Before that, wrap the piece of product in several layers of water-repellent film to prevent the cheese from freezing.
When defrosting, first place the product in the refrigerator.
Only when it thaws can it be moved to a warmer environment, that is, to room temperature conditions.
