Red caviar is considered an exquisite delicacy, which is an integral attribute of many festive events, including New Year.
However, this product has one significant drawback – a short shelf life. As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, said, on average, caviar can be stored in an unopened package for up to three months, and after opening the package – only four days.
To solve this problem, many housewives use the freezing method.
How to freeze red caviar correctly
To freeze caviar, it is worth using the food-grade plastic containers in which it is sold.
Make sure that the freezing container is small, since you must eat the defrosted caviar at once - the product cannot be re-frozen.
Be sure to attach a sticker with the freezing date to the container.
Important: Although caviar is a product that can be frozen, it should be taken into account that its consistency may become more oily and soft. However, the taste and nutritional value will remain unchanged.
How to defrost caviar
The container with caviar from the freezer should be moved to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, closer to the wall.
When the product has thawed (this takes an average of 6 hours), drain the accumulated liquid and transfer the caviar to another container.
