Many people believe that meat is a mandatory ingredient in stuffed peppers.
In fact, the latter can be stuffed with a mixture of vegetables and mushrooms.
At least in Turkey, this cooking option is quite popular.
And it is worth noting that the dish turns out to be very appetizing. Perhaps many gourmets will like it much more than classic stuffed peppers.
The recipe for the dish was shared by the expert of the online publication Belnovosti in the field of cooking, chef, fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova.
Turkish Stuffed Peppers Recipe
Take one onion, peel it, rinse it with plain water and cut it into cubes.
Next, grate one carrot.
After this, add the onion and carrot components to the pan.
Heat the vegetable mixture, stirring occasionally, for four minutes.
Next, add 200 grams of chopped mushrooms and a couple of crushed cloves of garlic to the pan.
The resulting mixture needs to be stewed for another five minutes. Transfer the prepared mass into a deep container.
After this, prepare 12 peppers. Remove the "lids" from them, remove the seeds and pour boiling water over them for 10 minutes.
While the "cups" are in hot water, peel 3 tomatoes and cut the fruit. Next, grate 7 potatoes. Add herbs to taste and a couple of spoons of sour cream to the potato-tomato mixture. Mix the mixture well.
Next, combine the two resulting mixtures (vegetable-mushroom and potato-tomato). The filling is ready.
Fill the peppers with the prepared mixture, place them in a saucepan and cover with water.
The final stage is stewing the stuffed peppers. The process should take 60 minutes.
