If you are going to enjoy boiled corn, you should approach the stage of choosing the product with full responsibility.
Recommendations on the correct choice of corn were shared by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova.
1. You should buy corn only on the cob - this requirement is explained by the fact that after cutting, the grains become starchier and harder, while such natural “packaging” prevents the corn from aging.
2. To determine how ripe the corn is, look at its stigma, or tuft.
If it is brown and dry, then you have old corn on the counter. Young fruits usually have yellow or green stigmas, slightly damp and sticky to the touch.
3. Choose cobs with green leaves and no defects. If the leaves have already dried out, the corn is most likely no longer young.
4. Pay attention to how much the corn weighs - if you compare the weight of several ears of approximately the same size, the one that weighs more than the others will be the youngest, since the grains in it are filled with juice.
5. Choose corn based on its appearance. Try not to tear the natural wrapper - because of this, the product will spoil much faster.
