Cucumbers for the winter are the first snack for the table. They are often salted, often marinated. There is a recipe for preparing cucumbers in barrels, but not everyone can afford it.
There is a recipe that will help you prepare almost the same cucumbers for the winter, only without a barrel and even without vinegar.
Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova, a cook and fourth-class baker, told how to make pickled cucumbers for the winter.
You will need:
- cucumbers - 3 kg;
- horseradish - 1 leaf per jar;
- currant leaves - 2 pcs. per jar;
- dill (umbrellas) - 1-2 sprigs;
- garlic - 1-2 cloves;
- black pepper - 0.5 tsp;
- black peppercorns - 0.5 tsp;
- bay leaf - 2 pcs.;
- water - 2 l;
- salt - 100 gr.
How to cook
1. Wash the jar, then put horseradish leaves, currant leaves, dill, pepper, bay leaf and garlic into it.
2. Then we put cucumbers in the jar up to the neck. They need to be soaked in cold water for 3 hours beforehand.
3. Fill a saucepan with water, add salt, stir until completely dissolved, then pour the brine over the cucumbers almost to the very top, cover with gauze and leave for 2-3 days at room temperature.
4. Then pour the brine into a saucepan, bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes.
5. Pour hot brine over the cucumbers, screw on the lids, turn over, and when they cool down, put away for storage.
In a month and a half the cucumbers will be completely ready. Enjoy your meal!
