Millet porridge is a tasty and healthy dish that is recommended to be included in the diet of adults and children.

However, many people ask themselves: what is better to cook millet porridge on – water or milk? Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, cook Yulia Arkhipova, helped to make a choice.

If you want to cook unsweetened millet porridge with meat or vegetables, it is recommended to use water.

Porridge made with milk turns out more tender, and pumpkin, honey, dried fruits or berries are usually added to it.

To prepare millet porridge in water, pour the cereal into a saucepan and add water.

After the mixture boils, cook it over medium heat for about half an hour, stirring occasionally until the liquid is completely absorbed into the cereal.

To make milk porridge, use a ratio of 1:4 (one part cereal and two parts water and milk).

Add hot milk after 10-15 minutes of cooking, when all the water has evaporated. After cooking, cover the dish with a lid and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
