Before making strawberry jam, preserves or compote, it is necessary to remove the sepals.
Of course, you can handle the tails with your bare hands, as they say. But if you want to speed up the process significantly, use the tips from the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova .
Teaspoon
To get rid of the unnecessary "detail" of the strawberry, take a small metal spoon and insert it into the pulp of the berry at a 45-degree angle - in the place where the white part turns into the red.
After this, make a circular motion with the spoon around the sepal, thus cutting it out.
Cocktail straw
If you have a plastic (or metal) tube at home that is hard enough, try inserting it into the bottom (pointed) side of the strawberry, then pushing it through and squeezing the stem out of the pulp.
Meat grinder
If you don't need whole berries, but rather berry "mash", try putting the strawberries through a meat grinder with a juicer attachment.
As a result, the pulp of the berries together with the juice will pass through the sieve, and the solid parts will be pressed and sent to the waste hole.
