Boiling potatoes is one of the most common side dishes, but despite this fact, it does not always turn out well.
Sometimes when boiling potatoes, one potato may be fully cooked while the other remains undercooked.
And the reason, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova , explained, is just one mistake.
This "phenomenon" is often observed because the pot of potatoes was left open, which prevented the heat from being retained inside.
Many people remove the lid of the pan, seeing this gesture as a kind of prevention of overcooking the potatoes.
In fact, the tubers will boil over and risk turning into mush if you put the potatoes into already boiling water, rather than cold water.
In this case, the outer part of the potato cooks faster, and when the middle is ready, half of the potato is already falling apart.
To summarize: in order for the potatoes to cook evenly, they should be placed in cold water and wait until it boils. Once the water reaches boiling point, reduce the heat and cook until done, without removing the lid.
