The broth left over from making dumplings is a valuable resource for knowledgeable housewives.
Chef Yulia Arkhipova, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, spoke about ways to use this liquid.
Meatball soup
To quickly get a tasty and filling dish, add fried vegetables, potatoes, meatballs and any pasta to the broth. After about 15 minutes, the soup is ready to serve.
Buckwheat soup
If the dumpling broth is fatty and rich enough, you can make buckwheat soup without meat from it.
All that is required from the cook is to add buckwheat, sautéed onions and carrots, a small amount of tomato paste, and greens, which will make the dish fresh and aromatic. This soup will be ready to serve in 20 minutes after the start of cooking.
Stewed potatoes with meat
Add diced potatoes (a lot) and a can of stewed meat to the broth. You will also need fried onions and carrots – and a hearty dinner dish is ready.
Pasta sauce
Dumpling broth can be a great base for pasta sauce. It is prepared using the same principle as the dishes listed above: fried onions and garlic, as well as herbs and spices, are added to the liquid after boiling the dumplings.
